Las Vegas, Nevada – Residents across southern Nevada face critical fire danger Tuesday as a Red Flag Warning takes effect from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., threatening Lincoln and Nye counties with gusty winds and extremely dry conditions.
According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, the warning covers a broad stretch from Beatty to Caliente, including Rachel, Goldfield, and Pahrump. Strong southerly to southwesterly winds between 15 and 25 mph—gusting as high as 30 mph—are expected, rapidly drying out grasses and brush.
Communities near Tonopah, Furnace Creek, and as far south as Las Vegas should avoid outdoor burning, grilling, or any activities that could spark a wildfire. Fire crews and local agencies are urging everyone to heed fire restrictions, use caution with BBQs, ATVs, and dragging chains, and avoid parking on dry grass. Any ignition could spread quickly under these conditions.
The warning marks one of the most significant fire risks so far this July, with conditions reminiscent of previous high-danger events. Authorities stress that more advisories may follow if weather patterns persist.
Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday evening. Residents should monitor local updates for possible extensions or new advisories.
