Old Forge, NY – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for Hamilton and Northern Herkimer counties, with heavy snow continuing to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, additional snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected, with isolated totals reaching 7 to 9 inches, particularly north of Route 28. Travel during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes may be impacted by slick roads and sudden changes in visibility.
Drivers are urged to delay travel if possible. Those who must travel should exercise extreme caution, allow extra time to reach their destinations, and be prepared for rapid weather changes. Emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, should be kept in vehicles.
