Grand Rapids, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of southwest and west central Michigan, where lake effect snow is expected to continue through 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service reported Monday afternoon that affected areas, including Muskegon, Holland, and South Haven, could see additional snowfall accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. The advisory covers Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, and Van Buren counties.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility and road conditions may vary significantly due to lake effect snow bands. Travel could become challenging during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes, with rapidly changing weather conditions.

Drivers are urged to slow down and remain vigilant as visibility may drop quickly in heavy snow. Residents should also prepare for shifting weather patterns and deteriorating road conditions in localized areas.

The advisory emphasizes the need for caution while traveling, particularly in areas prone to lake effect snow. The snow is expected to taper off by early Wednesday, improving conditions midweek.
