Gaylord, MI – Michigan residents should prepare for bitter cold as temperatures drop significantly over the weekend. Forecasters warn of single-digit lows, with wind chills plunging to as low as -25°F.

According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, lake effect snow showers will persist through the weekend. Winds are expected to shift northwest after midnight Friday, ushering in a colder air mass and light snow. These conditions could lead to hazardous travel across parts of the state.

Temperatures will reach highs of just 19°F to 29°F on Saturday before dropping further Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s highs could range from 7°F to 15°F, with Monday’s temperatures plummeting between 2°F and 9°F. Wind chill factors may intensify the cold’s impact, posing risks for frostbite and hypothermia.

The National Weather Service advises residents to dress warmly and limit time outdoors during peak cold hours. Drivers should stay alert for icy roads and blowing snow, especially near the Great Lakes.
