Lake County, IL – Route 22 is currently closed between Kelsey Road and Harbor Road in unincorporated Barrington following a traffic crash that resulted in a significant diesel spill.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred early Friday morning. A large amount of diesel fuel was spilled on the roadway, leading to the immediate closure of the affected section of Route 22. Emergency response teams are on the scene to manage the cleanup and ensure public safety. The duration of the road closure is currently unknown.
Ambulance and emergency traffic destined for Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital are advised to enter the hospital from the west, not the east, to avoid the spill area. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is urging drivers to use alternate routes and exercise caution in the area.
