Lake Bluff, IL – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit rescued two teen paddle boarders adrift on Lake Michigan on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on patrol observed the teens, a 16-year-old girl from Lake Bluff and a 16-year-old boy from Wauconda, floating away from the shore around 1:30 p.m. The teens, not wearing life vests, were unable to overcome the wind and lake currents, which carried them further from the shoreline.

The teens did not have any communication devices. Deputies quickly responded, pulling them from the lake and retrieving their paddle boards. The teens were uninjured and safely reunited with their families at the Lake Forest Marina.
