Lake County, IN – Authorities have recovered the bodies of two missing boaters near a BP breakwall after a fisherman reported a discovery on Wednesday.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, a fisherman called 9-1-1 around 12:30 p.m. to report finding a body about three-quarters of a mile from shore. Lake County Marine Unit officers and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assisted in the recovery. The DNR found the second body east of the breakwall.
The boaters had been missing since July 5, when they reportedly fell out of a boat near Whiting, Indiana. One male boater was rescued by the Coast Guard on Friday.
The investigation is ongoing.
