Lake County, IL – Lake County Sheriff’s Department deputies announced Thursday an arrest in a school threat late last month.
According to police reports, deputies apprehended Markeese D. Guider, 27, following a bomb threat at a local school. The incident occurred on January 25, 2024, at the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL), where Guider allegedly threatened to explode a bomb in the school parking lot. This led to an extensive search by sheriff’s deputies and explosive detection dogs, ensuring the safety of the students and staff.
The investigation revealed Guider’s phone was reportedly used to make the threatening call. He was arrested on February 14 and faces several charges, including transmitting a bomb threat. Sheriff John D. Idleburg highlighted the importance of collaboration with school districts in ensuring safety.
Guider, currently held at Lake County Jail, awaits his first court appearance, with all defendants presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
