Schererville, IN – The Schererville Town Dump will close from Sept. 3 until mid-December 2024 for major upgrades. The facility, located at the Schererville Public Works Department, will undergo significant renovations, including a newly constructed dump site and infrastructure improvements. These upgrades are part of Phase 2 of the Kennedy Avenue expansion.

Residents are advised to use the Republic Services Transfer Station at 1155 Birch Avenue during this period. This facility charges a fee based on the weight of the load. Tire recycling will also be unavailable at Schererville Public Works during the closure. Residents can find alternative tire disposal sites through the Lake County Solid Waste Management District’s website.

The improvements, which include enhanced lighting, stormwater infrastructure, and new security features, aim to modernize the facility. The town expects to complete the project by mid-December 2024, with the dump reopening shortly after. Local officials appreciate the community’s patience during this time of progress.
