Lake County, IN – Starting April 15, drivers navigating Lake County should prepare for significant traffic shifts due to bridge maintenance projects. I-94 Eastbound will see the closure of its right lane above US 41, initiating a major reconfiguration that will push all four lanes to the left. This phase is slated to last until mid-May, and is essential for ensuring the longevity and safety of the infrastructure.

The Indiana Department of Transportation: Northwest has announced that this is just the first phase of a comprehensive maintenance project, which will include the northbound State Road 912/Cline Ave ramp bridge to I-94 and is expected to continue through late August. Alongside the lane closure, various ramps will be closed starting on or after April 15, with the potential for extended disruption to usual travel routes.

Local commuters and inter-state travelers alike are advised to anticipate delays, especially during peak travel times. The upcoming ramp closures will affect the eastbound I-94 to northbound Indianapolis Blvd, both directions of US 41/Indianapolis Blvd to eastbound I-94, and the Kennedy Ave connections to I-94. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes or allow extra time for travel. Traffic management updates and detour information will be provided as the project progresses.
