Cedar Lake, IN – An 80-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a ditch along W. 129th Ave early Tuesday morning and later pronounced dead, according to Cedar Lake police.
Officers responded around 6:40 a.m. to reports of a partially clothed elderly woman lying on the roadside. Upon arrival, authorities found her unresponsive but with a faint pulse. Cedar Lake Fire Department medics treated her and transported her to a nearby medical facility, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators identified the woman as a resident of Grasselli Street, near where she was discovered. Surveillance footage showed her walking near the Cedar Lake Clubhouse around midnight, appearing confused and carrying two pillows. Authorities believe she may have drowned, though no signs of foul play were found.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office is conducting further investigations, but police do not suspect criminal activity. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the woman in the late hours of March 10 or early March 11 to contact the Cedar Lake Police Department.
