Crown Point, IN – Residents have an opportunity to help replenish the region’s blood supply Tuesday as the Crown Point Fire Department hosts an American Red Cross blood drive amid an ongoing summer shortage.
According to the Crown Point Fire Department, the blood drive is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 126 N. East St. in Crown Point.
Officials said the Red Cross is experiencing a critical need for blood donors, with summer shortages affecting communities across the country. Blood donations are used to support trauma patients, individuals undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, and others facing medical emergencies.
The fire department is encouraging eligible community members to register in advance through the American Red Cross website to reserve a donation appointment. Walk-in availability may vary depending on capacity.
Red Cross officials remind donors to stay hydrated, eat a healthy meal before donating, and bring a photo ID to their appointment.
The event is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local blood supply during one of the most challenging times of the year for donations.
