Louisville, KY – A relentless heat wave is gripping Louisville and Southern Indiana, with temperatures expected to soar into the low 100s through Friday. The National Weather Service is urging residents to take immediate precautions as heat indices climb to dangerous levels.

According to the US National Weather Service in Louisville, today’s temperatures are expected to peak between 95 and 100 degrees, with heat indices pushing into the triple digits. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours, remain hydrated, and wear light-colored, breathable clothing if venturing outside. This afternoon, Southern Indiana could also experience severe thunderstorms, adding to the hazardous conditions.

The heat will persist on Thursday, with similar high temperatures and heat indices forecasted. As the Labor Day weekend approaches, the heat wave will break slightly, with Saturday’s temperatures dropping into the 80s, but thunderstorms remain a concern. Sunday and Monday are expected to bring relief, with cooler temperatures and clearer skies.
