La Porte, IN – The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office K9 Riot will soon receive a bullet and stab protective vest, courtesy of a donation from the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest, sponsored by Joyce Lingle of Brooklyn, IN, will be customized with the words, “This gift of protection provided by Joyce,” and is expected to arrive within ten weeks.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., has been dedicated to protecting K9 officers since 2009. The organization provides bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement dogs across the United States. The U.S.-made vests are custom-fitted, NIJ-certified, and valued at $1,800 each.
To date, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., has supplied over 5,707 vests to K9s in all 50 states, with a total value exceeding $6.9 million. The program accepts donations from individuals and corporations, and eligible K9s must be at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement.
