Bodfish, CA – A 29-year-old Bodfish man was arrested last week after allegedly firing at a home with two children inside, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 4:45 p.m. on October 18, 2025, in the 200 block of Jones Street. Investigators say the suspect intentionally shot at a female victim with the intent to kill. Two minors were inside the residence during the incident, though no injuries were reported.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was identified as Michael Kemmetter, 29. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm.

On October 23, 2025, deputies located Kemmetter in the 600 block of Laurel Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident. During a subsequent search of his residence, deputies reported finding multiple firearms and suspected narcotics.
