Paducah, KY – Western Kentucky residents should brace for a significant drop in temperatures starting tonight, with wind chills expected to plummet into the 20s by Thursday and Friday mornings. Breezy northwest winds will make conditions feel even colder, marking the area’s coldest stretch since March.
According to the National Weather Service, Paducah recorded one of its warmest Novembers on record earlier this month, but a sharp change is now underway. Temperatures will dip into the mid-30s tonight, with northwest winds gusting up to 21 mph. Thursday will bring partly sunny skies with a high of just 48 degrees, but wind chills could make it feel like the 20s during the morning hours.
Residents along US-60 and I-24 should dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure early in the morning. A chance of light rain mixed with snowflakes could briefly appear in the Evansville Tri-State area Thursday, though no significant accumulation is expected.
Looking ahead, sunny conditions return Friday and Saturday, with highs in the 50s. By Sunday, warmer temperatures near 64 degrees will move in ahead of another frontal system. However, the longer-term forecast hints at cooler-than-normal conditions heading into Thanksgiving week.
Stay tuned to local forecasts for updates, and take precautions to prepare for colder mornings as this cold front settles across the region.
