Kentucky – A significant rain system will hit Kentucky early Monday, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected to linger through Wednesday. Communities near the Ohio River, including Paducah, could see between 2 and 4 inches of rain by midweek. Local officials are advising residents to monitor forecasts closely as localized flooding could develop.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a line of thunderstorms will bring the heaviest rainfall Monday night into Tuesday. Monday’s temperatures will reach a high of 65 degrees before a slight cool-down begins. Strong winds with gusts of up to 25 mph are possible during storms.
Tuesday will bring calmer skies, with a high of 57 degrees and isolated showers before rain intensifies again late Tuesday night. By Wednesday, another round of widespread rainfall is expected, accompanied by cooler conditions. Highs will hover around 57 degrees before dropping into the low 40s overnight.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution on local roads like I-24 and US-60 as heavy rainfall could cause slick conditions and ponding water, particularly in low-lying areas.
Looking ahead, the extended forecast for Thursday and Friday shows drier and cooler weather, with daytime highs in the low 40s and overnight lows in the mid-20s.
Residents should stay tuned for updates, particularly as rainfall totals increase and localized flooding risks rise near the Ohio River. For real-time updates, follow the National Weather Service Paducah and check road conditions before traveling.
