Springfield, MO – Dense fog is creating dangerous driving conditions across portions of southwest Missouri this morning, with visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for the region, impacting major roadways like I-44 and I-49. Travelers are urged to drive with caution, use headlights, and allow extra travel time.

According to the National Weather Service, the foggy conditions will begin clearing late this morning. Once lifted, temperatures will climb to the upper 50s and low 60s, providing mild and dry weather for the remainder of Sunday. However, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after midnight, continuing into Monday morning. The chance of precipitation is as high as 95%, and localized downpours could impact Monday’s morning commute.

The five-day outlook brings continued rain chances. Monday will see lingering showers with temperatures holding steady near 58 degrees. By Tuesday, skies will begin to clear with highs reaching the mid-50s, though rain could return Tuesday night into early Wednesday. A midweek cooldown follows, as daytime highs drop into the low 40s with clear, dry conditions expected by Thursday.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for foggy travel this morning and prepare for periods of heavy rain in the coming days. Motorists should exercise caution and stay updated on road conditions, especially during the Monday morning rush.
