Paducah, KY – A weak weather system is expected to bring light snow flurries tonight before arctic air plunges temperatures this week. Residents are advised to prepare for hazardous driving conditions as freezing fog and icy patches could form overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, clouds will increase throughout Sunday, with highs reaching the low 40s before dropping into the 20s overnight. Areas near Interstate 24 and east of the Mississippi River could experience light snow Tuesday afternoon, followed by bitterly cold conditions Wednesday and Thursday. Daytime highs will dip into the 20s and 30s, with wind chills nearing zero at night.
Drivers should monitor forecasts and allow extra time during morning commutes, as icy conditions are likely on untreated roads, especially in southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky.
The extended forecast shows gradual improvement by Thursday, with sunny skies and slightly warmer highs near 40. Friday may bring rain as another system moves through the region. Residents should plan for fluctuating conditions and dress in layers to stay warm.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated on local weather alerts, especially when traveling.
