Kentucky Weather Alert: Up to 6 Inches of Snow Expected Across Eastern Regions Until Noon Thursday

Jackson, KY – A significant winter storm is set to impact eastern and southeastern Kentucky starting tonight, with snowfall expected to disrupt travel through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday to noon Thursday for Montgomery, Laurel, Pulaski, Pike, and surrounding counties. Snow accumulations between 3 to 6 inches are expected, with localized higher amounts possible. McCreary, Whitley, Knox, and Bell counties face snowfall between 2 to 5 inches from 10 p.m. tonight until noon Thursday.

Snowfall rates could reach up to 1 inch per hour late Tuesday night and early Wednesday, making roads hazardous. Morning and evening commutes on Wednesday and Thursday morning could be particularly challenging.

Drivers are urged to keep emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water, in their vehicles. Road conditions can be monitored at goky.ky.gov. Residents should prepare for potential delays and hazardous conditions as snow blankets the region through midweek.
