Paducah, Kentucky – Damaging winds and heavy lightning could disrupt travel near Paducah by late Tuesday as isolated strong storms sweep through western Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a narrow but potent line of thunderstorms is expected Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the highest risk for wind damage and lightning developing after 3 p.m. Spotters are advised to monitor updates closely. U.S. Route 45 and nearby corridors may see brief but hazardous conditions during peak commute times.

While flooding concerns remain limited, fast-moving downpours could reduce visibility. No severe activity is expected past Tuesday, but any storm that develops could carry gusts strong enough to down limbs or power lines.

Paducah residents should secure outdoor items, charge phones in case of brief outages, and avoid non-essential travel during evening hours.

From Wednesday onward, calm and dry summer conditions will return and build through the July 4th weekend. Temperatures will climb daily into the low-to-mid 90s, with Thursday and Independence Day bringing the hottest stretch of the week. No rain is expected during the holiday, and clear skies should make for perfect fireworks viewing.

Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday evening. More advisories may follow if storms intensify.
