Paducah, Kentucky – Rain returns to Kentucky just in time for Easter weekend, bringing scattered storms and over 2 inches of possible rainfall to parts of the region, but major river flooding remains unlikely.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, an unsettled weather pattern will take shape starting Friday night, continuing through Sunday. While the system could produce isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, widespread severe weather is not expected. Rainfall totals may top 2 inches in southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky by Monday.
The Ohio River at Paducah continues to recede from moderate flood stage, currently projected to dip below 39 feet by Thursday. Forecast rainfall may slow that decline, but is not expected to reverse it or worsen current conditions.
Highs will rebound into the 70s by Thursday and may hit 80 in some locations by Friday, adding fuel to the weekend’s thunderstorm potential. Light showers may begin as early as Wednesday night across western Kentucky and southern Illinois.
Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and avoid flood-prone roadways. Updates will follow if any severe weather or renewed flooding threats develop.
