Paducah, KY – Major river flooding continues to impact Kentucky and surrounding areas, with several locations seeing forecast crests approaching historical highs. According to the National Weather Service, the Green River is expected to surpass a record set more than 60 years ago, with predictions indicating a crest at Paradise, KY, higher than any seen since 1937.

The flooding, which is expected to last through mid-April, includes some of the region’s most significant rivers. In Evansville, IN, and Newburgh, KY, forecasts show crests exceeding 50 feet, with levels only surpassed by the devastating flood of 1937. Local officials are urging residents to take precautions as floodwaters inundate low-lying areas.

Other major rivers across the region, including the Ohio River in Evansville and the Big Muddy in Murphysboro, IL, are also expected to reach major flood stages. The Green River, which serves as a significant waterway through the area, will crest at 49.5 feet by April 11, marking the most severe flooding seen in the region in decades.

Authorities are urging individuals living near these rivers to stay informed of updated forecasts and be prepared for possible evacuations.
