Louisville, Ky. – Patchy dense fog is reducing visibility across parts of Kentucky and southern Indiana this morning, making for a potentially hazardous commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, drivers should use caution during the early hours due to fog, especially in low-lying and rural areas. Conditions will remain mostly dry through the day, but rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected to move in late Thursday night and continue into Friday morning.
The risk of rain increases significantly after midnight, with widespread showers and embedded storms likely through the Friday morning rush. Louisville, Bowling Green, and Elizabethtown could see brief downpours and gusty winds, while areas near the Indiana border, including New Albany and Jeffersonville, may face similar conditions.
By Friday afternoon, showers and storms are expected to redevelop and linger into the evening. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roadways and allow extra time for travel. Residents should also secure outdoor items and ensure cell phones are charged in case of power outages.
Drier and warmer conditions are expected to return by Saturday, but storm chances may linger into early next week. Stay alert for additional watches or warnings as conditions evolve.
