Paducah, KY – Multiple tornadoes were confirmed in Kentucky on April 2, 2025, leaving significant damage in several counties. The most severe tornadoes were identified as EF2, with peak winds reaching 125 mph, as they caused destruction across parts of Wayne and Ballard Counties.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the first tornado, which began in Wayne County near McGee, tracked 8.4 miles northeast, severely damaging trees and buildings along its path. The twister lifted its strength across Bollinger County, continuing eastward, causing additional damage to homes and a church on County Road 714. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this area.
The second tornado, which started in Ballard County near Gage, tracked 19.1 miles through McCracken County. This EF2 tornado caused widespread damage to barns, power poles, and a church, where a family sustained serious injuries while sheltering. It then continued to the north, affecting homes and businesses near Paducah.
The NWS noted that teams are still surveying the area to evaluate the full extent of the damage and will issue further reports once all data has been compiled.
