Greenville, IL – An EF-2 tornado hit portions of Bond and Fayette counties in Illinois on April 2, 2025. The twister tracked nearly 23 miles, with maximum wind speeds reaching 135 mph. The tornado, which caused significant damage in its wake, originated south of Pocahontas and moved toward Vandalia Lake, crossing the southern side of Greenville.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado maintained a ground path of 22.8 miles. While the damage was severe, the storm resulted in only one injury and no fatalities. The maximum wind speeds reached 135 mph, classifying it as an EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

Residents of Greenville and surrounding communities are still assessing the full extent of the damage, which includes structural damage to homes and debris scattered across affected areas.
