Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Freeze Warning for much of central and southern Kentucky and southern Indiana, in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Friday (1 a.m. to 8 a.m. CDT).

Forecasters warn that temperatures could fall as low as 29°F, marking one of the coldest nights of the season so far. Areas affected include Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown, Frankfort, Madison (IN), and Danville, among many others.

A Frost Advisory remains in effect through Thursday morning, with temperatures near 33°F causing widespread frost. The freeze warning will follow tonight, signaling a likely end to the growing season across much of the region.

According to the NWS, the combination of clear skies and calm winds will allow for rapid overnight cooling. Residents are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants, disconnect outdoor hoses, and protect plumbing from freezing.

The chill will ease slightly over the weekend, but another round of cold mornings may return early next week.
