Louisville, KY – Freezing temperatures and snow showers are set to create potentially hazardous travel conditions across Kentucky starting Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), temperatures will drop sharply as arctic air pushes into the region. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected in the Bluegrass and Lake Cumberland areas. The heaviest snowfall will impact eastern Kentucky through Sunday night. Motorists should anticipate icy patches and reduced visibility on major roadways, including I-64 and I-75.

Sunday’s weather forecast shows highs near 28°F during the day, with breezy conditions making it feel even colder. Overnight lows are expected to dip to 6°F, accompanied by gusty winds. The arctic blast will persist into early next week, with wind chills possibly dropping below zero.

The NWS has advised residents to limit travel, especially during overnight hours, and to keep emergency kits in vehicles. Spotter activation may be required to monitor snow accumulation and hazardous road conditions.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain bitterly cold through Wednesday. Monday is forecast to be sunny but frigid, with highs near 20°F. A gradual warming trend may begin by Thursday, with highs reaching the mid-30s.

Residents should stay informed through official weather updates and exercise caution when traveling.
