Logansport, IN — A Kentucky man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for illegal firearm possession and drug dealing in Cass County, Indiana. Eric Armenteros Rodriguez, 58, of Louisville, was sentenced for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and for dealing marijuana.

According to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, Rodriguez’s charges stemmed from a January 2022 traffic stop in Logansport. Police discovered Rodriguez with over two pounds of marijuana intended for distribution and a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun, which he was prohibited from owning due to previous burglary convictions in Florida.

Rodriguez pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2023 but failed to appear for his sentencing in February 2024. Authorities arrested him in August 2024 in Louisville. Rodriguez was extradited back to Cass County, where he faced sentencing in Judge Stephen Roger Kitts II’s court.

Rodriguez has a criminal history, including a 2008 Florida burglary conviction and credit card-related charges in Kentucky from 2017. He will serve his time in the Indiana Department of Correction.
