Mason and Robertson Counties, KY – Flooding is already occurring in parts of Mason and Robertson counties, where heavy rainfall continues to fall. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning until 9:15 PM EDT Sunday for these areas, advising residents to be on high alert for rapidly rising waters.

According to the National Weather Service, as of 3:05 PM EDT, radar indicated that thunderstorms were producing heavy rain, with between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain already accumulated. An additional 0.5 to 1 inch of rain is possible, potentially exacerbating flood conditions in low-lying areas. Locations including Lewisburg, Mount Olivet, Sardis, and Mays Lick are experiencing, or are at risk of, flooding.

This warning extends to areas near creeks, rivers, and streams, which could overflow their banks quickly. Key roadways impacted include US Route 62 at State Route 616 and the area around Blue Licks Battlefield. Residents in flood-prone areas should avoid traveling and stay away from riverbanks, which may become unstable.

The National Weather Service urges people to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. As flash floods continue to develop, further warnings may be issued.
