Falmouth, KY – A flood warning has been extended for the Licking River at Falmouth as minor flooding continues. According to the National Weather Service, the warning remains in effect until this afternoon, with the river forecast to recede below flood stage.

At 11:00 PM EDT on Monday, the river stage reached 34.9 feet, surpassing the flood stage of 33 feet. The river is expected to fall below the flood stage early today, with continued decrease throughout the day.

The flooding has impacted portions of State Route 22, especially to the east of the Falmouth business area and in Shoemakertown, where sections of the road have submerged. Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roads, as the National Weather Service reminds residents, “Turn around, don’t drown.”

As the flood waters begin to subside, authorities are monitoring the river’s levels closely, and additional updates may follow. For the latest updates, residents are encouraged to visit the National Weather Service’s website at www.weather.gov/iln.
