Lake Charles, LA – Flood warnings remain in effect for parts of Louisiana and Texas as rising river levels continue to cause minor flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued updated flood warnings for the Calcasieu, Sabine, and Red Rivers as of late Monday night.
The Calcasieu River near Glenmora is expected to crest at 13.5 feet on Wednesday morning, leading to potential road closures, including Strothers Crossing Road and Price Crossing Road. Flooding is also predicted in forested areas along the river. The warning for this region remains in effect until Saturday morning.
Further south, the Sabine River near Deweyville has been steadily hovering above flood stage, with the river currently at 24.7 feet. Local flooding is reported in areas including southwest Beauregard Parish and Niblett Bluff Park, and roads near the river in northeastern Orange County have been inundated. The flood warning for the Sabine River remains in effect indefinitely.
Additionally, the Red River near Alexandria is forecast to rise above flood stage late Wednesday night, reaching a crest of 34.0 feet by Friday morning. Backwater flooding is anticipated along Bayou Maria and Huffman Creeks.
Residents in these affected areas should remain cautious of flooded roads and continue monitoring NWS updates.
