Henderson, Kentucky – An escaped inmate who triggered a multi-county search across western Kentucky is now back in custody, ending a tense situation that had prompted public safety concerns.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 16, Angela S. Long was located in Barren County and taken into custody Tuesday morning. Authorities confirmed the arrest follows her escape from Dismas Charities in Owensboro during the evening hours on Monday, setting off an urgent search across the region.
Long, 45, had been serving a sentence related to theft and substance abuse charges. Officials said she was last seen leaving the facility and entering a black car, prompting law enforcement agencies to coordinate efforts across county lines, including Henderson and surrounding areas.
Communities were urged to remain alert during the search, with police asking residents to report sightings and avoid contact. No injuries have been reported in connection to the escape or arrest.
Authorities have not released additional details about where Long was found in Barren County or whether others may have assisted her. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
