Cincinnati, Ohio – Dry skies are offering a break across the Ohio River Valley through Tuesday morning, helping swollen rivers finally recede after days of rainfall.
According to the Ohio River Forecast Center, most of the region—including Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia—will remain dry through 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 3. The exception lies in southern Kentucky and middle Tennessee, where scattered rain may linger. The break in precipitation is expected to help rivers that had reached or neared action stage to gradually fall back to normal levels.
River gauges across the region show improving conditions, especially along the Ohio, Kanawha, and Wabash Rivers, with green indicators (normal flow) returning to dominate the map. Isolated yellow markers in Kentucky and southern Indiana still reflect some concern, but no major flooding is expected.
Residents near flood-prone areas should continue monitoring water levels and avoid low-lying roads until further notice. Emergency officials recommend using this dry window to clear drains, check sump pumps, and review emergency plans, as additional wet weather is likely to return by late week.
River and precipitation updates will be issued daily by NOAA through Wednesday.
