Kenosha, WI – Kenosha County authorities have closed the 1989 Baby John Doe case after confirming the newborn’s identity using DNA evidence. The infant was found deceased under a bridge over the Des Plaines River in the Town of Paris on November 9, 1989.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, the case was reopened in 2015 when new information emerged. In 2016, the infant’s remains were exhumed for DNA analysis. In August 2022, a DNA match identified Baby John Doe’s next of kin, leading to a renewed investigation, handled as a homicide case.

The case was referred to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office, which recently concluded no charges would be filed. Kenosha authorities officially closed the case on October 3, 2024.
