Wichita, KS – Kansas is set to experience the hottest day of the year so far, with heat indices approaching 110 degrees. Today’s temperatures are forecasted to range between 102 and 108 degrees, prompting a heat advisory for the central, south-central, and southeast regions of the state.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, hot and humid conditions will dominate, with the highest heat indices expected in the southern areas, reaching up to 110 degrees. Residents in Salina, Hutchinson, and Emporia should prepare for heat indices over 108 degrees, while Wichita itself could see temperatures around 109 degrees.

Tuesday will bring a slight respite, though temperatures will still peak between 93 and 100 degrees, with a 20% chance of thunderstorms. By Wednesday, cooler air will begin to move in, reducing temperatures to a more comfortable range of 84 to 88 degrees, though there’s a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Thursday and Friday are expected to be unseasonably cool, with highs between 82 and 86 degrees.
