Kansas Man Dies in McKenzie County Crash, Investigation Underway

McKenzie County, ND – A 43-year-old Kansas man died early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on ND Highway 23.

The collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling eastbound, rear-ended a 2012 Kenworth Truck also heading eastbound. The Kansas man, identified as the Silverado driver, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Kenworth driver, a 34-year-old from Washington, was unharmed. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities closed the stretch of ND Highway 23 between 22nd Avenue NW and 104th Avenue NW until approximately 10 a.m. for investigations. Officials have yet to release names, pending family notifications.

Multiple agencies, including the North Dakota Highway Patrol and local first responders, assisted at the scene. No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
