Wichita, KS – Severe thunderstorms, including the potential for quarter-size hail, are forecasted for Tuesday evening across parts of Kansas. The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a warning, advising residents to prepare for hazardous weather conditions from 4 p.m. to midnight.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest storms may produce damaging winds up to 70 mph, heavy rainfall, and quarter-size hail. Areas such as Salina, Hutchinson, and Wichita are at an elevated risk, with storms expected to peak during the evening hours.

In addition to the thunderstorms, heat indices in south-central and southeast Kansas are expected to reach around 105 degrees on Tuesday afternoon. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

By Thursday, more storms are possible in the afternoon and evening, especially southeast of the Kansas Turnpike. Strong storms and heavy rain could impact holiday plans for the 4th of July, prompting the National Weather Service to advise monitoring updates closely.
