Kansas City, Mo. – After a stretch of quiet weather, rain showers will return to much of Missouri beginning Wednesday afternoon and lasting into Thursday. The highest chances for measurable rainfall are expected along and south of the I-70 corridor, including the Kansas City metro, with additional impacts south toward Jefferson City.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, showers could bring more than a quarter-inch of rain in some locations, with the most favorable areas stretching from Topeka, Kansas, to Jefferson City, Missouri. Northern Missouri, including cities like Kirksville and Chillicothe, will see much lower chances of rainfall.

Daytime highs will remain mild, ranging from the mid-70s to the low 80s through the end of the week. Overnight lows will dip into the 50s, keeping mornings cool and comfortable despite the return of unsettled weather. Drivers should be alert for slick roads during heavier showers Wednesday night and Thursday, especially during peak travel times.

Rain chances taper off by Friday, leaving behind seasonable and dry conditions heading into the weekend. Additional updates are expected if rainfall amounts trend higher.
