Kansas City, Mo. – A warm-up is on the way for Missouri, with heat and humidity set to return in force by the weekend. While a few showers or isolated thunderstorms are possible today, most areas will stay dry, keeping highs in the low to mid-80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, temperatures will steadily rise through the week, topping out in the low to mid-90s from Friday through Sunday. Combined with high humidity, heat index values could reach between 100 and 105 degrees, creating potentially hazardous outdoor conditions.

Cities including Kansas City, St. Joseph, Lee’s Summit, and Olathe can expect the brunt of the heat beginning Friday afternoon. Residents should take precautions such as limiting outdoor work during peak heat hours, staying hydrated, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

The elevated heat risk is expected to persist through the weekend before gradually easing early next week. Additional heat advisories could be issued if forecast values remain high.
