Kansas City, MO – Heavy rain and strong winds are expected to impact the Kansas City area late tonight, continuing into Monday. Residents are advised to prepare for widespread rainfall, wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph, and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms by evening.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), rainfall will intensify after midnight, with totals of up to two inches possible by Monday evening. A few thunderstorms may become severe Monday night, particularly along the I-70 corridor, bringing the potential for damaging winds. Commuters should exercise caution as strong gusts could create hazardous driving conditions, especially on elevated roadways and bridges.
The storm system will move out by Tuesday, ushering in cooler weather. Tuesday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 55 degrees, followed by a gradual cooling trend midweek. Highs will drop to 47 on Wednesday and 45 on Thursday, with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-30s.
The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north-central Missouri and eastern Kansas, urging residents to secure outdoor objects and monitor forecasts for potential storm developments.
To stay informed, keep an eye on weather updates and be cautious during peak storm periods. Prepare for gusty conditions and allow extra travel time during Monday’s commute.
