Kansas City, MO – Scattered severe storms may redevelop Thursday afternoon and evening across parts of Missouri, with the National Weather Service warning of potential tornadoes and damaging winds. The storms are expected to impact areas primarily south of I-70, where conditions will also be dangerously hot, with heat index values exceeding 100 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, storms could begin to form as early as mid-afternoon, continuing through the evening. The primary concerns include gusty winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes, posing significant risks to residents in the affected areas. Heavy downpours could also result in localized flooding.

As the weekend approaches, temperatures are expected to remain high, with highs near 92°F on Friday, followed by a slight cooldown on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s. Clear skies are forecasted for the weekend, providing some relief after Thursday’s severe weather threat. Early next week, a cold front is expected to bring cooler temperatures, with highs dipping into the low 80s by Tuesday.
