Dodge City, KS – Residents in central and western Kansas should prepare for bitterly cold temperatures and a chance of snow heading into the weekend. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills as low as -25°F.
According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, highs Thursday will only reach 28°F under sunny skies, but wind chill values will keep conditions dangerously cold. Overnight, lows will drop to 16°F before warming slightly Friday.
Five-Day Forecast:
• Friday (Valentine’s Day): Mostly sunny and warmer, with highs near 51°F. Strong south winds will gust up to 48 mph.
• Friday Night: Rain possible before 3 a.m., turning to light snow. Low around 23°F.
• Saturday: A 20% chance of snow, breezy, and a high of 35°F.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 33°F.
• Monday (Presidents’ Day): Mostly sunny, high near 51°F.
Travelers should use caution, as icy roads and strong winds may create hazardous conditions. Bundle up and limit outdoor exposure during early mornings and late nights.
