Indianapolis, IN – Freezing rain and snow will continue impacting central Indiana through Friday, creating slick roads and hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures will hover around freezing, increasing the risk of icy patches, especially on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Indianapolis, the last wave of freezing rain is exiting eastern Indiana early Thursday morning. However, scattered flurries and light snow showers are expected throughout the day. By Friday morning, a more significant system will bring increasing clouds and a chance of snow before transitioning to rain in the afternoon.

For those planning Valentine’s Day travel, conditions will remain unpredictable. NWS warns that a mix of rain and snow late Friday night could reduce visibility and make roads treacherous. By Saturday, temperatures will rise into the 40s, but heavy rain is possible, followed by a wintry mix Saturday night.

Sunday will see another round of snow, with gusty winds making travel difficult. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and check for road condition updates before heading out.
