Dodge City, KS – A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Kansas and Oklahoma, remaining in effect until 9 p.m. tonight. The National Weather Service warns that conditions could lead to the development of tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

According to the NWS, the watch area includes major cities such as Wichita, Hutchinson, and Oklahoma City. Winds could gust up to 75 mph, and hail could reach tennis ball size, posing risks to communities across the region.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay alert, monitor local weather updates, and seek shelter if warnings escalate. The tornado watch affects a population of over 2.1 million, along with hundreds of schools and hospitals in both states.

Officials recommend having a storm safety plan in place and securing loose outdoor items that could become projectiles in strong winds. People are advised to prepare for possible power outages and avoid unnecessary travel through tonight.
