Wichita, Kansas – A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck early Saturday near Hill City, Kansas, shaking parts of northwestern Kansas and setting off a sequence of smaller tremors across Oklahoma throughout June 1.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the first quake hit at 5:26 a.m. CDT about 6 kilometers south-southeast of Hill City, with a depth of 7.3 kilometers. The shaking was mild but noticeable across Graham County, with intensity maps showing weak to light shaking across surrounding rural areas. No damage or injuries were reported as of midday.

Later in the day, two additional quakes were confirmed in Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Geological Survey. A 2.7 magnitude earthquake hit near Dover, about 3 kilometers north-northwest of town, just before 1 a.m. CDT. Then, at 11:50 a.m. CDT, a 2.5 magnitude quake occurred 8 kilometers north of Nardin, close to the Kansas border. Both tremors were shallow—especially the Nardin event, recorded at just 0.2 kilometers deep.

Residents in the affected regions are encouraged to secure heavy furniture and be prepared for possible aftershocks. While these magnitudes are considered minor, clusters of activity may indicate localized fault stress.

Seismic monitoring continues across Kansas and Oklahoma, and officials will update if further quakes occur.
