Kankakee, IL — Illinois State Police (ISP) officers have arrested a 19-year-old Kankakee resident, Juan F. Diaz, on multiple felony counts related to alleged possession of child sexual abuse materials. Diaz faces charges of Possession of Child Pornography – Moving Depiction, Possession of Child Pornography involving a Victim Under 13, and Possession of Child Pornography – Images. These charges range from Class 2 to Class 3 felonies.

According to ISP, the investigation began in January 2023, when officers executed a search warrant at Diaz’s residence on Schuyler Avenue, reportedly uncovering electronic evidence linked to child exploitation. The analysis of this evidence led to the recent arrest.

On October 30, ISP officers returned to Diaz’s home with a search warrant, leading to his arrest and the collection of additional electronic devices for further examination. Diaz was then transported to the Kankakee County Jail pending a detention hearing.

ISP encourages the public to report suspected crimes against children and provides resources for parents and survivors. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Cyber Tip Line at cybertipline.com.
