Kankakee County, Illinois: Route 50 Shut Down Sunday Night After Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Hit-and-Run

Bradley, IL – A pedestrian was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash on Route 50 at Liberty Street and Bradley Boulevard Sunday night, leading to a significant road closure.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. when 44-year-old Ryan M. McGrath of Bradley was struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 50 near Liberty Street. Emergency responders found McGrath unresponsive in the roadway and he was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

According to Kankakee County Coroner’s Office, McGrath was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital. Authorities have shut down Route 50 (Bradley Blvd) to investigate the scene and ensure public safety. Bradley Police are actively searching for a white sedan that fled the scene immediately after the collision.

This tragic event has disrupted traffic and raised concerns about pedestrian safety in the area. Residents are advised to avoid the area while the investigation continues and to remain vigilant when traveling on Route 50.
