Bourbonnais, IL – Families and space enthusiasts in Kankakee County are invited to a captivating journey through the cosmos at the Strickler Planetarium on Friday, July 12, at 5 PM. This free event, open to individuals from kindergarten to adults, promises an educational and immersive experience.

According to Strickler Planetarium’s website, registration for the event opens on July 1 and can be completed online. Located on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University, the Strickler Planetarium features state-of-the-art digital projection technology, offering audiences a dynamic visualization of the night sky, the solar system, and beyond. The event is a repeat of the popular June show, providing another opportunity for those who missed it.

The Strickler Planetarium has a rich history, having been constructed in 1967 and extensively renovated in 2008. It transitioned from a mechanical star projector to a fully digital projection system in 2019 with the installation of the Digistar 6 system. This upgrade allows for a more immersive and educational experience, simulating real-time travel through space with stunning accuracy.
