Hampshire, IL – A high-speed crash critically injured three teens Thursday evening when their vehicle went airborne and struck a tree on Dietrich Road in Hampshire Township.
According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:32 p.m., a 16-year-old boy driving a Hyundai Elantra lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit a tree. A 14-year-old rear seat passenger was airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago with life-threatening injuries.
Another 14-year-old passenger was flown to Loyola Medicine Children’s Hospital in Maywood, also with life-threatening injuries. The driver was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing video footage captured by witnesses.
